The convergence of knowledge and technology
In this article for KM Review's Technology Spotlight feature, Hubert discusses the convergence of knowledge and technology and whether knowledge is a resource or a capability. The former assumes that knowledge is a finite resource and defines the role of technology as providing containers for accessing and applying this resource. The latter refers to the role of technology as providing a knowledge platform with processes and tools, which emphasize capability building at the juncture where content and collaboration meet.

The power of shared knowledge
In this article for Optimize magazine, Hubert discusses how the path to knowledge-based companies is littered with disappointment and offers advice and guidance to help you ensure it works this time around. Many CIOs have a very jaundiced view of knowledge management; they tried it and it didn't work easily, so they've closed the book on that chapter—or so they think. In fact, IT and business executives grapple every day with ways to achieve better collaboration and improve the flow of knowledge across the company, whether employees and partners are in the next cubicle or continents away.

Conductive organization can electrify customers
In this article for The Globe and Mail, Harvey Schachter reviews the newly launched book The Conductive Organization, by Hubert Saint-Onge and Charles Armstrong. Key ideas from the book are presented including the creation of an organization capable of unimpeded knowledge flow, continuous learning, and rock-solid values, to continuously generate capabilities to meet customer needs. Mr. Schachter remarks "the authors bring customer imperative, systems, and knowledge management together neatly and provide some intriguing models for developing the building blocks of a conductive organization."

2x2 matrix illuminates strategies
Author Harvey Schachter reviews Alex Lowy and Phil Hood’s book on the value and importance of the 2 x 2 matrix in determining strategy. In the book, Lowy and Hood discuss Hubert’s use of such a matrix at CIBC to determine key elements of high performance and to arrive at an innovative solution to an organizational crisis.
